Athletic Performance Enhancement through Movement Optimisation is a highly effective method for enhancing athletic performance and preventing injuries. When the body moves optimally, it reduces unnecessary stress on various structures and allows the body to fully utilise its potential.
Reduced risk of injury. In the example above, the muscles that are over-compensating during a movement are likely being overused. Additionally, when there is a muscle imbalance, it becomes increasingly difficult to maintain proper kinetic chain alignment during a movement.
Over time, this can lead to injury as form continues to break down. Correcting muscle imbalances and movement dysfunction can ensure that the right muscle is firing at the right time and that all joints are properly lined up to greatly reduce the risk of injury and enhance performance.
9 key physical components
of athletic performance.
- Strength
- Endurance
- Agility
- Speed
- Flexibility
- Balance
- Power
- Mobility
- Coordination
While all the components can be trained at a great percentage with your coach, there is still a percentage that can’t be reached unless your body moves optimally.
This science behind athletic performance enhancement through movement optimisation is relatively new, and we are proud to be the first to bring it to London. It was developed in the USA by Dr. Mike Clark around 1995, with a focus on athletic performance improvement. Since then, it has evolved and been developed by leading organizations such as NASM, ACSM, and the Brookbush Institute, all aiming to enhance athletic performance improvement. As of March 2021, 1,200 teams (including over 50% of the NBA teams) and 250,000 professional athletes (including Olympic athletes) were using this science for athletic performance improvement, and the numbers are growing rapidly.
